It does a fantastic job of explaining how blockchain technology works (about one fourth of the book). The authors use creative metaphors to explain what is happening behind the scenes. The remaining three fourths of the book focuses on the use cases for blockchains and cryptocurrencies in the form of case studies and research. There is a lot of thoughtful analysis when dissecting these case studies that helped me understand some of the shortcomings and weaknesses of blockchain technology.
Bubble or Revolution differs in that it offers frameworks for helping you understand in what use cases the pros of blockchain technology outweigh the cons. The authors do a fantastic job of making predictions on how major countries and major companies (e.g. Facebook and Microsoft) will adopt blockchain and the reasons behind it. If you are looking for an easy to understand overview of how blockchain works, why it matters, AND where the technology is headed from an unbiased perspective, I'd highly recommend checking out Bubble or Revolution!

This is a wonderful book written by a world-class economist. Saifedean Ammous really knows his monetary history and has clear and logical explanations of not only how money works, but why some money works better than others. He makes a compelling argument for why Bitcoin is superior to other forms of money tried in the past. As a bonus, he goes into why so much of "blockchain technology" is mostly hype.

any of us are already or need to invest in our futures financially. If you're employed full time than you most likely have some kind of retirement fund such as a 401K or something else. Or perhaps you're an Independent Contractor or 1099 worker and have your own retirement fund that you're putting money into.
If you don't have any funds set aside for your future than you need something. Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency is a great and easy alternative. Of course many people are very hesitant to put money onto it because it is not backed by anything like gold. But neither are US dollars anymore really. This book will explain everything you need to know. It simplifies everything so even younger people will be able to understand it.
This Basics of Blockchain book is perfect for Undergraduate, Graduate students or just anyone interested! It explained the decentralized database concept and coordinating agreement on an append-only history of transactions across a peer-to-peer network. The nature of a decentralized database with no central authority. The DLT running on a peer-to-peer network, so that all peers hold the database locally. The entire community verifies accuracy. There is “one truth” using consensus protocols! It was a great introduction to the complexity of the Blockchain concept, but in a magnificently simple and easy to understand book.
