Pregnancy Books for First Time Moms

Pregnancy books for first time moms should be easy to understand and include detailed information on all aspects of pregnancy. You'll find helpful advice on every aspect of your pregnancy, from dietary changes to birthing options. The best books will be written in an easy-to-understand style that supplements your relationship with your healthcare provider. This is an excellent choice for parents-to-be.
These books cover a wide range of topics. Many will address nutrition, so you'll have a comprehensive guide for planning your meals and preparing yourself for a new baby. A few will also cover relationship issues, assembling your support team, and dealing with the emotional stresses that accompany a new motherhood. And you'll find a wealth of advice on how to bond with your partner during pregnancy. Regardless of your preference, the right pregnancy book can ease your nervousness and reduce your anxiety.
As someone who faced postpartum depression and anxiety with her firstborn, I wish I had a guide like this to walk me through the fog. I saw myself reflected in the pages, reminding me how hard this was, not only for me but for my partner and family. This book could very well serve as a "Rosetta Stone" of sorts for loved ones trying to navigate the murky realm of PPD: a mechanism for your partner or family member to offer support when words fail you (as they did me then). I appreciated the short-form, a-la-carte presentation of the book. The freedom that comes with the "use any way that fits you" approach is perfect for PPD sufferers. The humor sprinkled about the book added that necessary lightness while not discounting the seriousness of the topic.
In truth, we don't have enough materials that talk about PPD in the first-person experience. We could use more voices like this in mental health overall, to be honest. I underestimated the power of storytelling -and problem-solving- coming from someone who *actually* went through the experience! The ally is a veteran, understanding the ins and outs of this period in my life. I give this all the stars I have to share!
The role of motherhood is one where women are continuously asked to focus on the needs of everyone else but themselves. This is a significant issue in the arena of self-care, where we often ignore our own hunger, energy levels, and emotions in the pursuit of taking care of others.
Written from the perspectives of both therapist and busy mom, Self-Care for New Moms features several eye-opening exercises, interviews from a village of experts (who also happen to be moms), and helpful interventions to help you get through the chronic depletion common to the postpartum year.

Being a mom is hard, finding a tribe to support you in the journey is hard and trusting yourself to be the best for your kids everyday is hard but when I read this book it helped me put it all into perspective. It’s truthful and real. I love that it related to me now just as much as it would have when my first was born. This life raising kids is so special and I love it but in those hard moments or moments you feel alone this book helps you know you aren’t alone and to live by this new mom code! I’ve already told all my mom friends to read it- including my 62 year old momma!!! It’s a book for us all!
Nero's book illustrates these [newer] responsibilities for the modern Father. From my own experiences, so much of what he offers is spot-on truth. It's important for us men/Fathers to understand that we SHOULD be actively involved, not just AFTER the baby comes, but from the beginning of Family Planning. The detail Nero goes into will help any Father-to-be. I read many things in the book that I wish I knew before the birth of my first child. These were things that I'm sure most women/Mothers think of- but I guarantee only a small percentage of Fathers-to-be do.
It's like sure, we would have thought about it and researched it... had we known we needed to. This book provides an accurate guide for what to expect and begin researching NOW. This book successfully captures and lays out the information and general concepts we should expect in Fatherhood/Parenthood.
The book is practical and tactical. The book is broken up into 5 sections mapping to Trimester-Zero (a.k.a. making the baby) all the way to Trimester-Four (a.k.a. welcoming your new roommate). You learn about what happens during each trimester, the choices your family will need to make, and the helpful checklists to make life a bit easier. It is just the right length and the words just flow, so you can get through the entire thing on a flight. Even though each section includes a chapter for the dad/partner, the book is written for the mom carrying the baby, which is key. To be a great partner, you need to have empathy and really understand what is happening to the mom and baby.

Unlike pregnancy guides that can overwhelm and alarm by telling you up front all the things that can possibly go wrong, this book first describes normal, healthy processes, their typical variations, and the usual care practices for monitoring them. Only then does it cover possible complications and the care practices and procedures for resolving them. Throughout, the presentation is crystal-clear, the tone is reassuring, and the
This is one of the best Pregnancy Books for First Time Moms. As you will read you will feel it gives u a nice heads up on what to expect week to week. The Q&A part is also great, as there are many questions on there that we can relate with, and we get giggles out of some of the Dad components, which are really a nice add-on and make this book feel like its made for all participating members. Pregnancy really is wonderful thing, but there are so many unexpected and unknown components to it, it can get really intimidating and scary.
Reading what others are going through or have done through is really comforting, and it helps us get our questions ready for our monthly doctors visit (there are so many things you don't even think about asking!). Its also been great to truly have a reference guide on what to expect, and what tests are coming up, so when they do happen, we are better prepared and can get to the core questions answered by our OBGYN.
As a survivor of maternal mental health disorders and an advocate for maternal mental health, this is a book every mom needs. While new moms will especially benefit from the invaluable information in this book, ALL moms will have "aha" moments while reading this book. It does a great job of letting moms know they are not alone in their struggles. Karen Kleiman is the BEST in this field because she gets what moms are feeling and thinking and always does an amazing job of validating their struggles. Such wonderful huge book. I love every bit of it. I wish that book was given at the doctor's office instead of some adds loaded crap. I got it at 13 weeks and read through everything. I wish I had access to it from the beginning as it explains everything very well. Gives peace of mind and faith in human body. The book is very practical but also inspirational
I would recommend this book to all new parents-to-be. So much useful information, great layout and organization, colorful pictures/diagrams, Q/A format that covers conception through postpartum. I highly recommend this book for prenatal education, especially for those who are self-directed learners and too busy to attend prenatal classes. And the price on Amazon were very affordable.
